  M. Gail Jones

M. Gail Jones is an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Computer Science at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a Professor in the Department of Mathematics, Science, and Technology Education at North Carolina State University. Her research centers on the use of technology in learning science, with an emphasis on haptic applications in education.

Dr. Jones received her Ph.D. in science education from NCSU and has experience teaching middle and high school science, and biology at the college level. Dr. Jones' early research focused on women in science and she continues to explore ways to engage women and minority students in science and engineering. Currently Dr. Jones is engaged in developing curricula to teach pre-college students about size, scale, and nanotechnology.  Other research focuses on understanding how concepts develop over time and how to improve science teaching and learning.

Dr. Jones' research has been recognized with awards from the Association of Supervision and Curriculum Development, The Association of Educators of Teachers of Science, and the N.C. Association of Research in Education.
