I was born in New Jersey and grew up in Vermont. I received a Bachelor of Science in Physics from UVM in 1999. Immediately following graduation I hiked the Long Trail.

I share my birthday with Gustav Klimt and Ingmar Bergman.

After college, I moved to Boston to work for Accenture (they used to have another name, but I am not allowed to say it), a global consulting company. During my four years at the company, I primarily designed and built large-scale securities trading software for financial services companies.

I returned to school in 2003 and received a Master of Science in Computer Science from UNC at Chapel Hill in 2006. I am currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Computer Science. My research focuses on using computing to solve difficult problems in biology imaging; UNC is a great environment in which to pursue this goal.

Outside of school I enjoy cycling, rock climbing, photography, running, reading, hiking, and traveling. When I have time.
