I am a member of the Nanoscale Science Research Group at UNC, funded by the Center for Computer Integrated Systems for Microscopy and Manipulation, where I work on analysis techniques for fluorescence microscopy images. Here is a research handout providing more information about the Microscope Simulator program that is a core component of this work.
