Yes, the zombies are fun but *way* to distracting when you're working. In our vision of how this works the reward zone is a plugin that is independent of the rest of the page. We can develop several different ones and see how they are received.

The challenges for blind users will be 1) making it fun/attractive to do and 2) making sure the appropriate parts of the screen are read. Screen readers have problems with dynamically updated pages. My reference to WAI-ARIA was to a new standard for informing the most up-to-date screen readers of changes on the screen.

We could make it speak without needing a screen reader but that would be a bit more challenging yet.

The reward zone is a clever idea. Let's think about having the score board or some type of points system, cash box, thermometer, climbing a mtn ... something that shows that you're making progress toward completion successfully without animation that could be distracting.

Gary, I'm not sure it is appropriate to offer this to kids who are blind/braille readers because of grade 2 or contracted braille. We have to do some homework, but I suspect many of the words we're using as targets have contractions. Let's check this out. Otherwise, I don't see why someone who is blind would have difficulty using the keyboard to enter and using screen reading technology.
