HOW TO: Securexam
for COMP 380 [PRINT THIS PAGE!] Be sure your
battery is charged, take an extra battery if you have one, and BRING your power cord! If the exam
will be given elsewhere, the room will be announced in class. Securexam is a
piece of software that you can download and install on your notebook
computer. It allows you to take your exam
during class using Microsoft Word—you are essentially shut out from
using any other applications (or loading any other documents) during
the exam; and the Word document that you save will be encrypted before
it is saved. Then, you’ll upload it to
Blackboard (see below). You MUST install and test the Securexam software yourself, ahead of the exam date. Visit
the web site below and read ALL THE WAY THROUGH the instructions ahead
of time. While the instructions are clear,
you need to figure everything out in advance. Print out the instructions they provide for uploading your
exam and take them to class with you. Print
out this document as well. BRING a
bluebook, just in case—none of us can guarantee that your computer will
not crash or experience other difficulties. Heed
all of the warnings you read. Here’s the URL
containing the software and instructions: http://securexam.unc.edu/install.html

which file to send, turn that feature on now: Open My Computer; TOOLS

Click on the VIEW tab. Scroll down to
the option “Hide Extensions for Known File Types” and
DE-select that box (effectively un-hiding them). UPLOAD
only the .doc file. [If
you upload the wrong file, I will notify you via email, so read your
email.] Using a
